Love it, Leave it or Change it
Recently, I came across the concept “love it, leave it, or change it” (once again)… and in times of increasing challenges and change, it feels more relevant than ever. As simple as the principle sounds, it is often difficult for us to put it into practice. Many of us are stuck in situations that cause stress or dissatisfaction. Too often, we remain in these states because we spend too much time on things that affect us—but that we cannot influence.
This is exactly where the principle “love it, leave it, or change it” comes in: love it, leave it, or change it. This approach—often attributed to Henry Ford—reminds us that we always have a choice in how we deal with challenges… even if it doesn’t always feel that way.
- Love it: If you’ve found a situation, a task, or a person that is good for you and that you’re satisfied with—then love it. Accept it as it is and draw positive energy from it. In this case, there is nothing to change—you already have what you need.
- Leave it: If a situation, a toxic environment, or a relationship is harming you or negatively affecting you—leave it. Sometimes the best step is to distance yourself from things or people that only create unnecessary stress. But “leave it” doesn’t necessarily mean leaving everything behind—often, emotional distance is already enough.
- Change it: If you find yourself in a situation you don’t like but can’t simply leave, then change it. Think about how you can adjust your perspective, your behavior, or even the circumstances to improve the situation for yourself.
